The annual Suzuki weekend away took place over the last weekend in June. ZA Bikers were privileged to be able to document what was a really fun event. The event was hosted at the ever popular Numbi Hotel in Hazyview in Mpumalanga. We were truly blessed with magnificent warm weather for the whole weekend. Suzuki’s annual weekend away has grown in popularity over the years and was open to all comers, but particularly Suzuki riders as well as owners of Suzuki Swift cars.
The banter around the dinner table was great, with us sitting under the trees with a truly South African braai vibe. What was great to see was the accent on family. Kids romped around as the folks shot the breeze. We scoffed on the sumptuous fare which, aided by a couple of lemonades, soon increased the gravitational pull on our eyelids. Early to bed as a full day of riding activity awaited us on the Saturday. A prize giving dinner was held on Saturday night, with a few “fines” dished out as well. Proceeds all went to charity. I will let the video we shot show you what we got up to, but suffice to say, a great time was had by all! New friendships were forged and everyone pledged to be back next year.
Sunday morning saw some sportbike pilots go and strafe the”22” while we packed up for the ride home. We rode home relaxed and rejuvenated by a really great weekend away. A huge shout out to Stuart Baker and his Suzuki team for the excellent organisation, and for reminding us of what a great motorcycling family we are part of. Thanks to the Numbi hotel too, which was as chilled as ever, with us all putting on another inch around the waist from the delicious chow. All in all the Suzuki Weekend Away was a really memorable event. Well done and roll on 2019!
