“The combination of amazing racing heritage and months of hard work has helped create an awesome buzz around this year’s Motul Roof of Africa,” asserted Charan Moore, manager of Live Lesotho and event organiser. “After all the planning and preparations, we’re thrilled that the Roof is almost here,” he added.

The number of entries shows just how excited people are about this year’s edition of the “Mother of Hard Enduro”. Over 400 riders have signed up to take on the challenging high-altitude course – so spectators will have plenty of extreme enduro action to enjoy.

Almost 50 riders have signed up to the elite Gold Class, with another 130 in the Silver Class and the largest field – over 220 riders – in the Bronze Class. While most riders come from South Africa, there are some 28 overseas entries, from countries both near and far: Australia, Botswana, France, Germany, Italy, Mozambique, Namibia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the USA.

This year, the majority of the international riders can be found in the Silver and Bronze Classes – which, according to Charan Moore, represent the true “heart and soul” of the Roof. Each Class features representation from Lesotho – this year, 13 host nation riders will compete. This number has been growing every year and reflects the passion of the people of the Mountain Kingdom for the Roof.

Accommodation in the Maluti Mountains region of Lesotho has been filling up fast, so it’s clear that the Live Lesotho team are not the only people filled with anticipation. There’s a real hum in the air as the Roof approaches: teams and riders are making final preparations, planning service team routes and giving the Enduro motorcycles their final mechanical checks. In the Motul Roof of Africa, nothing can be left to chance.
