Beta South Africa Continues Strong 2026 Season with IMPI Podium Sweep

Success in hard enduro is rarely built over a single weekend. It reflects the combined efforts of talented riders, dedicated teams, partnerships, technical support and the preparation that takes place long before the start flag drops.

For Beta South Africa, the 2026 IMPI Hard Enduro represented another important milestone in a journey that has seen the brand continue to strengthen its position within South African off-road motorcycling.

Regarded as the biggest multi-day hard enduro event in the world, the IMPI once again brought together well over 1,200 riders for three days of punishment across the unforgiving terrain of South Africa’s Northern Drakensberg.

Between 2 and 4 July, the mountains surrounding Hlalanathi and Maswazini became a proving ground where rocky climbs, loose descents and endless kilometres of technical trails separated those who merely entered from those who conquered.

A Complete Podium Sweep

Beta riders claimed first, second and third overall in the gold class. Leading the charge was James Moore, who delivered a commanding ride to win both days of competition and earn the coveted title of King of the IMPI. After taking victory in Friday’s demanding five-hour opener, he repeated the performance on Saturday to secure the overall win with a combined time of 9h23m, finishing an incredible 13 minutes ahead of the chasing pack.

Behind him, the fight for the remaining podium positions was fierce as riders searched for every possible advantage across the mountainsides. Thomas Scales secured second overall in 9h36m, while Travis Teasdale completed a dominant all-Beta South Africa podium with a time of 9h40m.

A clean sweep of the podium marked another significant result for Beta South Africa and continued what has been a successful 2026 season for the brand.

In total, 60 Beta motorcycles took to the start line across all classes; 100% of Beta riders finished the gold and silver classes, with 85% of riders crossing the finish line in the bronze and iron classes, both of these classes rated the toughest in recent years.

Beyond the Results Sheet

Results tell only part of the story.

Behind every rider standing on the podium is a network of dealers, support crews, families, sponsors and partnerships who are all integral to building the brand across the country. The current dealer network, for example, carries more than 140 collective years of industry experience. According to Beta South Africa, the focus has always been on a love of motorcycles and riding. That philosophy extends beyond the showroom, with riders backed by technical support and parts from people who genuinely care about getting the right bike setup for each individual.

Beyond racing, Beta prides itself on rideability—a word they use deliberately to describe bikes that reward riders of every level, not just the fast ones. It’s what puts a smile on the face of a veteran enduro rider and a first-time trail rider on the same afternoon.

As Beta South Africa puts it: “Performance builds credibility. Consistency builds confidence. Together, they build a brand.”

Built Through Partnership

Success at this level is never achieved in isolation.

Liqui Moly has been the global lubricant and factory team partner of Betamotor since 2014. Internationally, the company provides not only lubricants but also technical support for factory racing teams in EnduroGP, TrialGP and MXGP.

Locally, the relationship has become an important part of Beta South Africa’s racing programme. Liqui Moly sponsors the entire Beta South Africa Hard Enduro team. Both brands are committed to performance, reliability and supporting riders where and when it matters. Strong technical partnerships have become essential in modern motorsports. The result is a technical support structure that extends well beyond race day, helping riders prepare, compete and perform throughout the racing season.

Looking Ahead

The IMPI Hard Enduro may be one of the toughest events on the South African calendar, but the results serve as a benchmark for a brand that continues to grow through investment in its riders, dealer network, parts support and partnerships, while continuing to value the dealers and riders who choose the brand.

The 2026 IMPI will undoubtedly be remembered for the punishment delivered by the mountains of the Northern Drakensberg.

For Beta South Africa, however, it will also be remembered as another significant chapter in South Africa’s Hard Enduro history.
