Everyone knows that, for premium pre-owned motorcycles, you go to Bikeshop Rivonia or Bikeshop Boksburg. Both locations are petrolhead paradises, known for clean, interesting and often exotic and collectable pre-owned motorcycles, not to mention brand-new Honda, Suzuki, QJMOTOR and KAYO models. This is all well and good, but what do you do if you live surrounded by some of the best riding roads in the country, if not the world?
I’m talking, of course, about the Western Cape; an enticing variety of roads of all types, with incredible scenery and many hundreds of interesting destinations. It is, to put it mildly, motorcycling paradise and, while the Cape already has its fair share of good motorcycle dealers, to that number can be added another, for Bikeshop has opened its latest branch, Bikeshop Paarl.
The location makes a lot of sense, for Paarl and the surrounding winelands offer breathtakingly scenic roads: sinuous mountain roads, incredible adventure trails, relaxed routes alongside arrow-straight vineyards, something for every rider. And that is the beauty of Bikeshop; they offer something for everyone, no matter their two-wheeled tastes.
And it seems that Bikeshop Paarl could not have come at a better time, if the foot traffic to the dealership is to be believed; the sales staff have mentioned that they are already running out of room, not only for its pre-owned stock, but also for the same brand-new models as its Gauteng sister stores.
Jannie Jordaan, of the Bikeshop group, is obviously excited about this new development.
“We made the decision to head to the Cape last year; we saw an opening and took the plunge. Paarl was an obvious location because it’s a growing market; the town itself is full of development and growth, and the general location in terms of the Western Cape couldn’t be better. Cape Town is a nightmare to get in and out of, so when KTM Paarl indicated there was space at their premises which we could take over, everything fell into place.
“It’s still early days – we’ve been open for a couple of months only – but we’re seeing good progress already, especially on the new bike front, while on the pre-owned side, adventure bikes and touring bikes seem to be very popular.”
An immediate feather in Bikeshop Paarl’s cap will be the visit of the Honda Wing Road Tour this weekend (26th September). There will be the chance to demo ride up to eight Honda models, as well as indulge in a boerie roll and cool drinks courtesy of Bikeshop Paarl. Just take your riding gear and licence along and enjoy the day.
