If you think about how far Triumph has come in a relatively short space of time, when compared to its long-established rivals, it should come as no surprise that every passing year sees not only new models but also significant developments of existing models.
2026 is no different in that regard, and the latest quartet of “new” models has just been announced, comprising models in the 400 cc, 798 cc, 900 cc and 1200 cc engine ranges.
First up are the two new 400 cc models, called the Bonneville T40 and the T40 Black. In Triumph’s words, these two models bring “the authentic Bonneville experience to more riders than ever before.” In other words, they are smaller, lighter and less powerful versions of the iconic Bonneville, but are nevertheless models that will do no disservice to the Bonneville name.

The smallest-engined and least expensive bikes they may be in the Triumph line-up, but the build quality is second-to-none, and the styling is a faithful replica of the famous model. The two new models will enhance the range, which currently comprises the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X, and provide not only easy entry to Triumph ownership for young and new riders but will also satisfy more experienced riders with the torquey power delivery and very respectable performance. For the new models, the engines have been tuned to give increased torque at lower revs, so peak torque of 36Nm is delivered at 5,000rpm, while peak power (32PS) is delivered at 7,000rpm.
Next up is a very significant model for Triumph in that the new engine will form the basis of the power unit as used in Moto2. The new Street Triple 798 promises to build on the already-legendary qualities of the Street Triple, with improvements and enhancements throughout the bike, with a dynamic new look as well. We’re still waiting for final details of the specifications to be released, but Triumph has said that it will be even more performance-focussed than ever.

Arriving around the same time – mid-November at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy – will be the new Tiger 1200, which will feature a distinctive new look, increased performance and refinement from the engine, advanced rider technology and the most sophisticated suspension package ever fitted to a Triumph.

The final model will be the new Tiger 900, again with more power and refinement in the engine department, as well as an upgraded chassis and enhanced rider technology and next-gen connectivity!
The end of 2026 will be a busy time for Triumph, so stay tuned to ZA Bikers for all the latest news and specs as they are revealed to us and, of course, throughout 2027 as we get to sample the new models as soon as they arrive on South African soil.
